WARREN, NJ - The Watchung Hills Junior Midgets remain undefeated with a 28-7 victory on Sunday, Sept. 29 over Albany. The Wolverines are now 5-0. They took the opening drive 78 yards behind the hard running of Connor Cook, Chase Jones, and Thomas Schelling for the first score.

Albany wasted no time to answer and scored after five plays on offense with a well placed pass to the left corner of the end zone and led, 7-6. Schelling returned the kick-off to the Albany 27-yard line, but the Wolverines suffered some penalties and missed blocks and punted the ball away. Strong defensive plays by Jonathan Taub and Ryan Pedrani forced Albany to punt after three plays and the Wolverines took over at the Albany 46. The Wolverines punched another one in behind the blocking of Pedrani, Taub, Ben Allgor, Tyler James, and Caleb Parker to take the lead back,12-7, at the half.

Albany received the ball to start the second half but the Wolverine defense layed tough behind big plays from Chris Clintock, Devon Bennet, and Kevin Caracappa. The Wolverines took over on their 38 and drove down the field for another TD when Schelling scored for the 3rd time that afternoon on a 21-yard scamper around the left end. Clintcock made the kick to put the Wolverines up, 20-7.

The Wolverine defense was tough again with Matt Cardoza and Gary Gaglioti and gave Albany ta hard time moving the ball. Taub made a couple vicious hits in the series to get the ball back. The Wolverines marched down the field with solid runs and passes from Schelling to Matt Roth and then to Clintock for a critical fourth down conversion.

Schelling ran the last TD over the left side for 23 yards, breaking three tackles along the way with 6:45 left in the 4th. Clintock added the kick and the last points of the day for a final score of 28-7. Albany threatened to close the gap moving the ball to the Wolverine 10-yard line but the Defense stood tall again and denied another score.

The Wolverines take on Staten Island next.
