SUMMIT, NJ - Washington Elementary School's Country Fair has a new logo, and now it even has its own Official Day.

Mayor Ellen Dickson has presented the school with a proclamation designating May 17 as "Official Country Fair Day."  The event is open to the residents from Summit and the surrounding areas from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Featuring a variety of indoor and outdoor games, including bounce houses and a petting zoo, crafts, piñatas, a “cake walk,” and more, as well as the opportunity to win dozens of great prizes at the Silent and Tin Can Auctions, the Washington School Country Fair promises to be fun for kids of all ages, and will be held rain or shine.

This year’s Silent and Tin Can Auctions will offer items generously donated by local shops and skilled artisans as well as national companies.  Vacation items, spa and fitness packages, theater tickets, golf foursomes, portrait sittings with professional photographers, and popular toys and games figure among the prizes.

Some highlights include: three nights at a five-bedroom villa in the Dominican Republic; a family four-pack of Park Hopper tickets to Disney World; a pair of tickets to the Tony-Award winning musical Avenue Q; and Sunday Brunch at the Short Hills Hilton.  The event’s donors include Benessere, Bonny Neiman Antiques & Artisan, Lorenz Fine Photography, Master Yoo’s Summit Tae Kwon Do, Meadows Golf Club, Skin Deep, The Sweat Factory, What a Dish! and Zipf Construction.

The PTO organizes the Country Fair, with all proceeds benefiting Washington students, going towards valuable programs like Art in the Classroom, as well as special assemblies featuring such guests as the Newark Boys’ Choir.
