WARREN, NJ - The Warren Recreation Department's sixth annual Yuletide Bonfire, Winter Festival & Fireworks extravaganza warmed up residents with a sense of community.

More than 140 volunteers helped at the event on Saturday, Jan. 18, and it was estimated that more than one thousand friends and neighbors attended.

Eleanora Hermann, Warren recreation director and Mayor Gary DiNardo opened the event with the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Color Guard marching from the bridge to the batting cage  and Girl Scout Troop 67719, presenting the flag salute.

The Warren Township Fire Department lit and managed the bonfire fueled by resident's Christmas trees.

Children and adults enjoyed Horse 'n Carriage Rides, carousel rides with music, train rides, marshmallow roasting, games, stargazing,  and fire truck tours.

The Ryan Tunney Band from New Providence provided live music in the popular warming tent. Township police helped direct traffic and safely cross people on Mountain Boulevard to the bonfire.

Before the fireworks started, the “Take Flight Dance Center" staged a flash mob to the delight of the crowd.

The evening ended with a tremendous fireworks display  by Garden State Fireworks. After the fireworks started, they suddenly stopped with people wondering,"is that it?" But a few minutes later, the show continued with their show stopping finale. A dog had run loose towards the launch area causing the delay.

It was cold, but it was a great night.
