Warren Postal Service Update

Thursday, November 7, 2013 • 10:04pm

Warren residents have raised concerns this week regarding the lateness of mail delivery. The Warren Post Office has advised that this is due to certain changes in postal routes and procedures as follows:

1)     Warren Township routes have been reduced and consolidated. The carriers are currently becoming familiar with their new routes and this adjustment is lengthening the mail delivery.

2)     The U.S. Postal Service has issued a new requirement that on Mondays and a day after a holiday; that the carriers must deliver all of the mail in their route.

3)     There is a goal at the Warren Post Office to deliver all mail each day.

4)     The postal service has eliminated the prohibition against delivery after dark.

The U.S. Postal Service is taking action on a national basis to reduce its costs; this is having an effect throughout the country including Warren Township.

This information is being presented to inform residents. Please be reminded that the Warren Township Committee and Township staff do not have any management responsibility over mail delivery; this is under the control of the U.S. Postal Service.
