WARREN, NJ - Sustainable Jersey representatives announced that Warren Township has been awarded a Sustainable Jersey Capacity-Building Grant. The $2,000 grants are intended to assist community Green Teams as they lead and coordinate the sustainability activities of their community.

The Sustainable Jersey Small Grants Program funded by the PSEG Foundation is providing $200,000 in grants to local governments for sustainability projects.

Mayor, Gary DiNardo, said, “We are grateful to Sustainable Jersey for awarding this grant and PSE&G for providing this grant funding which will bring extra benefits promoting a healthy environment to the residents and businesses of Warren.”

Warren Green Team Chair, Laura Mandell, explained that the grant monies are earmarked for the following specific uses:   1) A large banner to promote the event; 2) Paper Shredding;  3)  Costs for anti-idling signs & pesticide free zone sign, and other green team initiatives.

The banner will promote the April 26th Green Fair to be held from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  with a May 3rd Rain Date. “We are hopeful the banner will help spread the word so that more people will come to this year’s Green Fair to recycle their unwanted items and also to visit the displays from local businesses.  The displays from local businesses include:  Dean’s Natural Food Market, NRJ Home Services, Pure Energy Fitness, Plant Solutions, Onyx Mind Body, Wagner Farm Arboretum, Warren Girl Scouts, Warren Library, Camp Jotoni, Hand Spun Yarn, Pet Beds, and other local groups.” Mandell explained.

The shredding of documents at the Fair will be conducted by Cintas Document Management.  There will also be signs for anti-idling and pesticide free zones which will be placed on municipal grounds.

In addition to the above, the Warren Township Police in conjunction with the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will be collecting medicines for proper disposal. The collection site will be  located near the entrance of the Warren Police Headquarters located at 44 Mountain Boulevard.
