Voters Need to be Prepared
Friday, October 25, 2013 • 12:21pm
I would urge all voters going to the polls, on Tuesday, November 5th, to study their sample ballot. There are many choices to be made.
On the State Level, we will be voting for Governor/Lt. Governor, State Senator and State Assembly people. There are also two public questions. The first deals with amending the Constitution to allow veteran organizations to use monies raised from their games of chance for operating expenses. The second question asks that the Constitution be amended to raise the minimum wage to $8.25 per hour. To get more information on these State Ballot Questions as well as the why vote yes and why vote no analysis, go to lwvnj.org
At the County level, we will be selecting the Sheriff and three members of the Board of Chosen Freeholders.
On the Local Level, members to the Board of Education and local Council seats are on the ballot. In Berkeley Heights, there is also a non-binding local question asking voters if Berkeley Heights should secede from Union County and be annexed to Morris County.
Please review your sample ballot. Become familiar with all the positions on the ballot. Be prepared to go into the voting booth and mark your choice in each category. Being prepared will make the Election process go more smoothly for all voters.
Remember that Democracy is not a Spectator's Sport. Go vote on Tuesday, November 5th. The polls are open from 6am to 8pm.
