LYRA, the Vocal Ensemble from St. Petersburg, Russia will be performing at All Saints’ Episcopal Church at 559 Park Avenue in Scotch Plains on Saturday October 19 at 8:00 pm. The program will include sacred chants of the Russian Orthodox Church and Russian folk songs. A soprano, mezzo-soprano, tenor, and base, LYRA’s two female and two male singers are graduates of the prestigious St. Petersburg Conservatory. All Saints’ is thrilled to welcome back LYRA for their fourth performance at All Saints’ in little over a decade of cultural exchange.
LYRA’s objective is to introduce the enormous heritage of the Russian Orthodox Church and the traditions of Russian folk music for those taking an interest in Russia’s culture and history. But what that does not tell you is that these are some of the finest a cappella voices you will hear anywhere.
Regular tickets are $20. Tickets for Seniors (65+) and concert-goers age 15 and younger are $15. All Saints’ Church is at 559 Park Avenue, across from Park Middle School, and there is parking available behind the church accessed via School Place. More information is available at the All Saints’ website, www.allsaints-spnj.org, or by phone at 908-322-8047.
