LIVINGSTON, NJ - Second hand vintage boutique, Bric-A-Brac, located on 123 W. Mt. Pleasant Avenue, had its store preview Sunday afternoon, to give the public a taste of what to expect in days to come for the boutique’s opening.
Lifelong Livingston resident and local landscaper, Nick Terregino along with his mother, Angela, his aunt, Rita Racaniello, and girlfriend, Vivienne Cesaro partnered up to kick start the business.
“We decided to open the store because we enjoy going to second hand stores and going on hunts to find things,” Cesaro said. “The economy also played a role in our decision. For those who couldn’t afford expensive retail prices, we wanted to be able to offer people nice vintage pieces at a good price.”
Through their travels around New Jersey and neighboring states, Terregino and Cesaro have collected one of a kind, vintage items. Cesaro said the items in Bric-A-Brac are Cape May, Smithfield, Poconos and Heather’s Village inspired.
“We have something for everyone. The store has items from the early 1900s to present day,” Terregino said.
He added that items for sale consist of Depression glass, lamps, antique furniture, paintings, photographs, jewelry, china, mirrors, and children’s toys.
In terms of location, Terregino said the Livingston location would be a hot spot because it's located on a major street and nothing like it exists nearby.
Cesaro explained that she and Terregino wanted everything vintage, down to the store’s name.
“We came up with Bric-A-Brac because it’s an old, basic, vintage name that no one has. The term was used years ago when referring to the types of pieces we sell,” Cesaro said.
Cesaro told The Alternative Press that she and the partners are willing to go above and beyond to cater to a customer’s needs or wants.
“We’re willing to the extra mile and search for a piece a customer is looking for,” Cesaro said. “Just give us a description, we will search for it, send pictures of what we find, and deliver the desired piece.”
She also added that another service offered is placing items on consignment and decorating for small events.
“Overall, we provide friendly customer service and we are passionate about our hobby and new business,” Racaniello said.
