Union Y to Host Family Celebration in Honor of Israel Independence Day

The Greater MetroWest Jewish community will celebrates Yom Ha’atzmaut (Israel Independence Day) with an Israel @65 family celebration on Tuesday, April 16, from 6-9 p.m. at the YM-YWHA of Union County, 501 Green Lane, Union.

The event is being sponsored by the Legow Family Israel Program Center of Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ and the Union Y. The event also celebrates the community’s strong relationship with Israel, with all of Federation’s diverse travel opportunities, programs, projects, partnerships, missions, and activities all geared to building living bridges that connect Greater MetroWest and Israel.

Festivities will include children’s activities, an Israeli marketplace, and performances by the Hebrew Experience Band and Jewish Educational Center choir. Kosher Israeli food will be available for purchase.

Federation is also sponsoring a Celebrate @65 concert featuring Noa, Israel's leading international concert and recording artist, at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, April 15, at Congregation B’nai Jeshurun, 1025 South Orange Ave., Short Hills. Doors will open at 6:45 p.m. Noa will be performing with her long-time collaborator Gil Dor on guitar and the Yoed Nir String Quartet. Tickets are $18 students; $25 adults; and $100 patrons (includes dessert reception, preferential seating, and reserved parking. Group sales are available.
