PATERSON, NJ - Police are investigating whether the same suspect committed two sexual assaults that happened six hours apart Monday night and early Tuesday morning.
In both cases, the suspect put a knife to the victim's neck before assaulting her, police said.
In the first instance, a 19-year-old Hispanic woman told police she was assaulted after entering a commercial building near the corner of Main and Market streets at 7:30 pm on Monday. That woman described her attacker as a Hispanic man, police said.
In the second attack, an 18-year-old black woman told police she was assaulted at about 1:10 am Tuesday while she was walking on McBride Avenue near the Great Falls. That woman desribed her attacker as being "light skinned,'' police said.
Authorities are asking anyone with information about the attacks contact the Major Crimes unit at 973-321-1120.
