Two Maplewood Youths with Pellet Gun Arrested in South Orange

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ – Two Maplewood youths spotted walking down Irvington Avenue with a pellet gun were arrested and charged with possession of a weapon.
A witness notified police about the gun at 4 p.m. on Jan. 3.
Police also made two arrests on outstanding warrants. Ryan Webster, 27, of South Orange, was arrested at 5 p.m. on Jan. 6 after he was stopped on Mead Street for a motor vehicle violation. Michael Tripp, 40, of West Orange, was arrested at 9:50 p.m. on Jan. 5 after he was stopped for a motor vehicle violation on Scotland Road. He was wanted by the Essex County Sheriff’s Department.

Police and Seton Hall security are investigating the theft of a purse and an iPad from an office in the University Center at 12:55 p.m. on Jan. 10.
A blue Huffy 20-inch bicycle was stolen from the back yard of a College Place resident between 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 5 and 8:20 a.m. on Jan. 6. The bicycle was not locked.
- The driver’s side door lock and ignition of a 2003 Audi were damaged in a car theft attempt on Ward Place between 5 p.m. on Jan. 8 and 1 p.m. on Jan. 9.
