Two Local Teens Killed in Dutch Road Auto Accident

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - Two local teens were killed in an auto accident Saturday evening.

East Brunswick Police Units responded to a motor vehicle accident on Dutch Road near Fresh Ponds Road at 7:50 p.m. Saturday.

A 2004 Ford Mustang operated by Jeffrey Szatkowski, 17, of Spotswood, was travelling southbound on Dutch Road near Fresh Ponds. The vehicle ran off the roadway, striking a telephone pole. The vehicle then turned over in the wooded area striking a tree and landing on its roof. Szatkowski and his passenger, Nicole Surace, 18, of Milltown, were transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital with serious injuries. Both later died at the hospital.

Milltown Rescue Squad, East Brunswick Rescue Squad, Brookview Fire Department and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Paramedics all responded to the scene.

The circumstances surrounding the collision are currently being investigated. If anyone was a witness to the collision or has any information regarding the collision, they are asked to contact Ptl.
