WEST ORANGE, NJ - The Twelfth Annual Essex County Open House will be held on Saturday, May 31, at Turtle Back Zoo in West Orange, 560 Northfield Avenue, from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. The event will feature activities, giveaways, and information about services provided by Essex County, and during that time, admission to the Zoo will be free.

“Our Annual Open House has become a County tradition that our residents look forward to attending. Hosting this popular event at Turtle Back Zoo is a unique way to make County government more accessible and raise awareness about the many ways we contribute to our residents’ quality of life,” DiVincenzo said.

Carnival games, a drum demonstration, karaoke, prize wheels and trivia tests will be incorporated into the annual information open house and all County departments, divisions, and offices, will be present to speak with Essex County residents.

“While you’re learning about County government, take advantage of the free admission to the Zoo. While you’re there, golf on our miniGOLF Safari miniature golf course, take a ride on our ponies, carousel and miniature train, and enjoy our newest animal habitats featuring sea lions, sting rays, jaguars, Gibbon apes, wolves, otters, alligators, reptiles and bears,” said DiVincenzo.

“Turtle Back Zoo is a fantastic family destination that has been recognized for the past three years as the best zoo in the State by NJ Monthly Magazine. We encourage you to experience a fun-filled, wild adventure at our family-friendly destination,” he finished.

(Plenty of free parking is available; Turtle Back Zoo admission and rides on the miniature train are free. Admission to the miniGOLF Safari is $6 for children and $8 for adults and Carousel and Pony rides are $2 each.
