Tornado Watch in Effect for Union County

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch in effect until 9 p.m. for five counties in Northeast New Jersey, including Union. A tornado touched down in Queens, NY, earlier today, according to The Weather Channel.
A severe thunderstorm warning for Union County is in effect until 5:15 p.m., as well. The National Weather Service Dopplar Radar indicated a line of severe thunderstorms headed toward the area capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 miles per hour.
In the case of a tornado warning, the safest place to seek shelter is in a basement or small interior room (such as a walk-in closet or bathroom), away from windows.
