Throughout April, Fairfield Library Offers Array of Programs for Adults

FAIRFIELD, NJ - The Fairfield Free Public Library has scheduled an assortment of events geared for adults including afternoon movies, legal advice, presentations on nutrition, computers, organizational skills and parenting along with their monthly book club gathering. 

All the occasions listed below are free and open to the public, not just residents of Fairfield. The library is located at 261 Hollywood Avenue, Fairfield.

Throughout the month of April, the library will host free “Friday Afternoons at the Movies” when they offer a full length movie along with coffee and cookies. The month kicks off with Argo, and the other weekly titles will be announced.

Friday, April 5
  • 1 p.m.
    Friday Afternoons at the Movies - Argo
    Argo is a dramatization of the 1980 joint CIA-Canadian secret operation to extract six fugitive American diplomatic personnel out of revolutionary Iran. Directed by and starring Ben Affleck.
    Enjoy the film with coffee, cookies provided by the library.

Friday, April 12
  • 1 p.m.
    Elder Care Legal Advice
    The Goldberg Law Group, from Fairfield, will provide information on estate planning, VA benefits, long term care planning and stretching out your assets. Busing for seniors is available.
  • 1p.m.
    Friday Afternoons at the Movies - Title to be announced
    Enjoy the film with coffee, cookies provided by the library.
Monday, April 15
  • 7 p.m.
    Fairfield Library Adult Book Club
    The book club will meet to discuss by Jess Walter. Beautiful Ruins was written in 2012 and is Walter’s most recent work. Hailed by critics and loved by readers of literary and historical fiction, Beautiful Ruins is the story of an almost-love affair that begins on the Italian coast in 1962...and is rekindled in Hollywood fifty years later.

Thursday, April 18
  • 7 p.m.
    Nutrition Program
    Get great tips for healthy eating. Learn how to plan healthy meals for your family and meet all your nutritional needs. Registration is requested; call 973-227-3575.
Friday, April 19
  • 10 a.m.
    Introduction to the Internet Class
    This free computer skills class is intended to offer a broad view of using the internet. Class size is limited and registration is required;  call 973-227-3575.
  • 1 p.m.
    Friday Afternoons at the Movies - Title to be announced
    Enjoy the film with coffee, cookies provided by the library.
Tuesday, April 23
  • 7 p.m.
    Take Back Your Garage!
    Certified Professional Organizer Amara Willey will lead a workshop titled “Take Back Your Garage!” The event is intended to help participants learn how to clean out their garage and get organized. Registration is required; call 973-227-3575.

  • 1 p.m.
    Friday Afternoons at the Movies - Title to be announced

Tuesday, April 30
  • 7 p.m.
    The 15 Minute Child Break
    The Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey will lead an interactive one hour presentation titled “The 15 Minute Child Break.” The evening is geared towards parents, grandparents and caregivers who are concerned about children of any age and substance abuse. Registration is requested; call 973-227-3575.
    The presentation covers topics such as:
    • Talking to Your Kids about Drugs and Alcohol
    • Influence of Media and Pop Culture
    • Effects of Specific Drugs
    • Keeping Your Kids Drug-Free
    • Strengthening Parenting Skills
    • Utilizing Teachable Moments
