Three Armed Robberies Overnight

PATERSON, NJ - Police are investigating three separate armed robberies that happened overnight in the 1st and 3rd Wards.

In the first incident, a 39-year-old man told police he was smoking a cigarette with two men outside the YMCA on Ward Street at about 11:15 pm Wednesday when he invited them upstairs to his room. At the room, one of the men pulled a gun on him and they took his cell phone and money, police said.

The second incident happened near the corner of 7th Avenue and E. 27th Street at about 12::30 am on Thursday, police said. Two teenagers, ages 16 and 15, told police they were approached by a gunman who took a cell phone from each of them, police said.

The third incident occurred outside 168 Jasper Street at about 3:45 am, police said. A 28-year-old man told authorities he was walking on Jasper toward Union Avenue when two gunmen came up and demanded his possessions. They took his money and jewelry and hopped into a green Honda Accord that was nearby and drove off, police said.
