Three Armed Robberies on Monday

PATERSON, NJ - City police are investigating three armed robberies that happened within a seven-hour span in the 1st and 5th wards on Monday afternoon and evening.

In the first incident, a man in his 20s was walking near the corner of Green and Main streets when a motor vehicle pulled up near him, police said. One of the occupants pulled out a gun and demanded his money and the victim gave the suspects everyhing he had, said Sgt. Ivette Otero. The car then drove off.

In the second robbery, a woman in her 60s was walking near the corner of Van Houten and Cianci streets at about 3 pm when three men approached her, police said. One of the men pulled a knife and they took her celll phone before running off, police said.

In the third case, police said a 52-year-old woman was walking near the corner of Market Street and Memorial Parkway when she was grabbed from behind by a man with a knife who took her purse and fled.
