TheAlternativePress.com (TAP) is expanding its all-online hyperlocal newspaper once again, by adding a new section devoted entirely to the non-profit organizations that make our towns so special. The section will provide a completely free outlet for non-profits to provide important information about their organizations and the good work they do.

Residents in TAP's 16 towns and the County of Sussex will be able to simply click on the Giving Back section to read about which non-profits are operating in their area, so they can donate their time and talents to those whose missions are aligned with what a person's interests are. The section will provide a free outlet for these non-profit organizations to highlight the work they do, the areas of volunteerism or financing/other support they are in need of, and to also promote upcoming events and opportunities that residents may be interested in exploring.

Non-profits can post their events on the Giving Back calendar, press releases with an unlimited number of photos, free classifieds, and even have a featured column on the Giving Back section.

In addition to the free branding and messaging outlet provided to non-profits, TAP is pleased to offer these organizations a free opportunity to lead readers directly to their own websites via advertising donated by TAP for these organizations.  The first fifty non-profits that choose to sign up as a user on the site (click here to sign up) will be given free standard "button" ad space on the page for one full year.  Organizations that sign up should then email contact@thealternativepress.com to claim their donated ad space.

According to Mike Shapiro, founder of The Alternative Press, "TAP is all about community building. New Jersey is chock full of wonderful organizations filled with caring residents who strive to make a positive difference in other peoples' lives. Many of these organizations started simply, by a resident or two who turned a passion for helping others into vibrant grass-roots organizations that feed thousands, provide housing and clothing to those in need, build self-esteem and independence through selfless giving of time and talents." Shapiro further explained, "TAP was designed to offer our local communities a way to promote all things local, as well as to help develop a business or organization through specialized columns and advertising, in a logical, cost-effective way. This latest step in offering non-profits a free outlet in which to bring in more manpower and grow in new directions, is completely aligned with our mission. Online marketing is the fastest, most affordable way to help our communities prosper."

The Summit Area Y has been a supporter of TAP since its early days. According to President & CEO Darrell Johnson, "The Alternative Press has been a valuable partner of ours since its founding in 2008. Whether it's keeping our members informed, letting the public know about new things happening at the Y, or asking for help in our many community service initiatives, TAP has been the go-to resource for us. Their commitment to social responsibility sets them apart from all the others."
