Not many of my friends have written and published books, so it's always a thrill for me when one of them reaches that long-awaited summit.  My friend and one-time college roommate Karina Wolf (http://www.karinawolf.com/) has recently seen her debut children's book, The Insomniacs (Putnam), released to much acclaim.

The Insomniacs tells the tale of a family that moves halfway around the world — exactly 12 time zones away — and finds it simply impossible to adjust to the new hours.  So, they decide to explore the night, its mysteries, magic, and surprises.

Featuring illustrations by The Brothers Hilts, the gorgeous book has been earning acclaim from such important publications as Kirkus Reviews, Publishers Weekly, and School Library Journal, earning comparisons to such artists/creatives as Tim Burton, Neil Gaiman, and Edward Gorey, among others.  The Insomniacs is recommended for ages 3 and up.

On Saturday, October 20th, Karina will read from The Insomniacs at Watchung Booksellers (http://www.watchungbooksellers.com), 54 Fairfield Street, Montclair, at a Storytime Series event beginning at 10:30am.
