"The Loving Story" to Screen at Summit Library June 24

SUMMIT, NJ - The Summit Free Public Library will present a screening of the documentary film, “The Loving Story,” June 24, at 7 p.m.
This film presents the moving account of Richard and Mildred Loving, who were arrested in 1958 for violating Virginia’s ban on interracial marriage. Their struggle culminated in a landmark Supreme Court decision, Loving v. Virginia (1967), which overturned anti-miscegenation laws in the United States.
Dr. Christopher Fisher, Associate Professor of History at the College of New Jersey, will introduce the film and facilitate an interactive community discussion.
Admission to the program is free, and all are welcome, but seating is limited. Registration, suggested but not required, can be done in person or by calling 908 / 273-0350, selection 3. Doors open 30 minutes prior, with the program co-sponsored by the Summit Free Public Library and Shaping Summit Together, an organization dedicated to helping Summit reach its full potential as a mature, diverse, suburban community.
