BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Berkeley Heights Mayor Joe Bruno has issued the following statement based on a conference call with the Governor a few minutes ago:
Below is a recap of the conference call for our area:
* We are experiencing the strongest wind now through midnight. With the peak around 10-11 pm tonight. Winds will diminish around 1- 2 am Tuesday.
* The Passaic River will not reach flood stage during this storm so flooding in our area should be minimal if any.
* Travel should be restricted tomorrow to allow emergency personnel and utility crews the opportunity to assess the damage and begin the clearing process and repairs.
Utility crews will not begin repairs until the wind subsides below 25 mph. Power may be out 7-10 days.
