BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - The latest rage has caught on with a group of Berkeley Heights teens. This rage is "The Color Run 5K", known as "the Happiest 5K on the planet." The Color Run is a paint race that celebrates healthiness, happiness, individuality, and giving back to the community. Thousands of participants showed up to yesterday's Color Run in Englishtown.
The only rules to the race, you must wear all white at the start line, and finish plastered in color. Liv Emanual, Missy Quinn, Haley Clark, Jennie Pires, Lauryn Distaso and Sarah Dilly all had the time of their lives.
The participants run this un-timed race while getting doused from head to toe in different colors of powdered paint. The race is about fun and creating colorful memories while promoting healthy living. After finishing the race, the fun continued with a "Finish Festival" that kept the excitement and fun going with music and more color.
The Color Run, a for-profit company, has partnered with charities raising donations for more than 80 local and national charities since 2012. Since its debut in January 2012, they have grown from 50 events and 600,000 participants in 2012, to over 100 events and over a million participants in 2013.
