The Calais School is Accepting Applications for Extended School Year Program

The Calais School in Whippany, a private, non-profit special education school serving students in grades pre-school through 12+,is currently accepting applications for its extended school year program. The program begins on July 1, 2014 and runs through August 12, 2014. Students do not have to be current Calais students to participate.

The Extended School Year Program provides academic and social integration in all activities. It features a safe and nurturing environment. Classes are taught by special education teachers. Additional support services include speech and language, psychological services counseling and school nurse.

For grades Pre-K through 12, the Calais School offers a program which encompasses academics, social skills and recreational development. Highlights are Project-based learning; Computers and iPad fun; Music and Dance Appreciation; Artistic Expression; Recreational Activities and Special Events; Science Wizardry and Social Skills through Activities-Based Learning and Field Trips.

In addition for the 12+ and high school students, it offers a Career Exploration and Life Skills Program. Highlights include Math and English College Placement Test Preparation; Animation/Movie Making; Digital Arts Education; Floriculture/Landscape Design Experience; Child Care Provider/Assistant Experience; General Office Occupation Opportunities and Culinary Activities.
