SUMMIT, NJ - Temple Sinai’s Early Childhood Education Program (ECEP) has announced the launch "Summer Sensations", a new summer camp program.   Like the ECEP programs during the school year, the camp – located in Summit – will be open to children of all religious backgrounds.

Based on the best practices from a variety of different educational approaches, the ECEP has been designed to be an active environment that will inspire creativity, imagination, and a love of learning in children.  This same philosophy will underlie the summer camp experience.  “Because young children ‘learn by doing,’ our program emphasizes experimenting and engaging in new experiences.  This philosophy, combined with our play- and skills-based curricula, lends itself equally well to both school and camp environments.” says ECEP Director Amy Damast.

Camp activities will include sand and water play, art, music, exercise and games, and special events.  The children will use the Temple’s brand-new playground, which incorporates both climbing structures and natural elements.  Each week of camp will be structured around a different theme, such as “Under the Sea,” “Let’s Go to the Zoo,” and “Carnival.”

Open Monday through Thursday to children ages 2 through 4, camp will begin on June 23 and end on August 7, with varying weekly schedules depending on the camper’s age.  Families will have the option to register for the full summer program or a combination of several different sessions.  For the youngest ones, Temple Sinai’s ECEP is offering a “Toddler & Me” camp on Wednesdays throughout the summer.  This program will be open to children aged 12 - 24 months, with a caregiver.

Camp registration begins on February 24.  Registration is also currently open for the 2014-15 school year, with the ECEP offering classes for children ages 2 through 4.

To introduce new families to the various programs, the ECEP is hosting a “Day in the Life of a Preschooler” event, at which children can enjoy art activities, fine motor play, and music while parents can ask questions of Director Amy Damast and meet one another.  The open house will be held on February 9 from 4 - 4:45 p.m.  Interested families should RSVP to Amy Damast, 908 / 273-4921 (x31), via or Amy@templesinainj.org.

“We are excited to bring this great new summer camp option to the community,” says Damast.  Families are invited to visit Temple Sinai’s ECEP to observe the rich and creative experiences it offers.   Temple Sinai is located at 208 Summit Avenue.
