Temple Sinai’s Early Childhood Education Program Officially Opens

Monday, October 21, 2013 • 9:40am

SUMMIT, NJ - Temple Sinai’s Early Childhood Education Program (ECEP) officially opened its doors with a ribbon cutting ceremony on their new playground.  After speeches by the Temple President, Steve Greenblatt, lay ECEP Committee Chair, Susan Klein, and ECEP Director, Amy Damast, Temple and Program representatives cut a foam chain to mark the occasion.  All those in attendance were invited to plant daffodil bulbs as a gesture of planting seeds for the ECEP’s future, and a light supper followed.

Temple Sinai’s Early Childhood Education Program is a research-based program for 2-4 year-olds that incorporates the best practices from a variety of different educational approaches that inspire creativity, imagination, and the love of learning.  The curriculum incorporates both child-centered and teacher-guided instruction to teach developmentally appropriate skills based on themes that emerge during classroom discussions and interactions.  Children with all learning styles can move through skills mastery at their own pace, using materials and activities that interest them.

The Early Childhood Education Program has a variety of programming for families with young children.  A preschool class for 2 year-olds is already in session, and Damast plans to expand the program with classes for three and four year-olds next school year.  In addition, Toddler & Me, a toddler-parent / caregiver program, will begin on October 25 at 9:15 am for children age 12-24 months with an adult.  Registration is open for Toddler & Me.  Contact the ECEP office at 908-273-4921 x30 or Amy@templesinainj.org for additional information.
