To Launch Temple Sinai’s Lifelong Learning Series
With ‘Ten Apples’ Presentation Oct. 6
Jon Plaut, long-time member of Temple Sinai and Summit resident, will launch the fall series of the
Temple’s Lifelong Learning Lunch and Learn Series with his ‘Ten Apples,” lecture at Temple Sinai, Summit, beginning at 1:15 p.m., Sunday, October 6.
A frequent speaker on the arts and the environment, Mr. Plaut’s talk is based on a course he teaches at Rutgers University. While emphasizing Jewish content, he will also discuss global issues from the past and present.
The author of a novel about the environment, Sour Lake Texas, Mr. Plaut is president of Global Learning, an advocacy group, which is focused on education and specific issues relating to the environment. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Summit Free Public Library.
From 1994-2002, under an appointment by President Bill Clinton, he served on the NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) Commission. He has an engineering degree from Penn State University and a law degree from Georgetown University Law School.
The lecture is open to the public. Reservations are requested and can be made by calling the Temple Office at 908-273-4921X16. A $5 fee per person will be collected to defray the cost of the luncheon.
