Teenager In Critical Condition After Saturday Shooting

PATERSON, NJ – A 16-year old walking with a friend on E. 18th Street was shot and wounded early Saturday morning , according to city police.
At about 3:06 am, the two youths were approached by a “an unknown suspect” who fired several shots, including one that wounded the victim in the pelvic area, said Lt. Patrick Murray, head of the police department’s Cease-Fire unit.
The victim then ran east on Broadway and collapsed in the driveway of the Citgo gas station at Broadway and Madison Avenue, Murray said.
The victim is in critical condition at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, police said.
Authorities have not said what they believe caused the shooting, which remains under investigation.
