SPARTA, NJ- The next tax bill Sparta resident receive will include a form to sign up for the Honeywell notification system.  William Close, the Township manager explained that the insert would be included without any additional costs.  New office equipment makes the mailing process more efficient.  It will also allow for a customized message on the outside of the envelope.  This time, in addition to the postage, there will be a message explaining to residents that the envelope contains the tax bill and the registration form.

Honeywell Instant Alert is a web-based communication system that allows the user to quickly communicate with a large number of people through many different means; cell phone voice and text messages, land lines and emails.  The message can be sent by delegated township officials remotely, even if they are unable to get to the municipal building.  The messages can be loaded into the Honeywell system via the internet or by speaking the message over the phone.  It is available for use 24 hours a day, seven days a week and 365 days a year, making it a potentially valuable tool in alerting township residents to emergency situations and give instruction and information.

The township made use the system earlier in the month when a portion of Main Street was closed for a week due to a repair project.  Christine Quinn of the Communication Committee and Close explained that the system worked well.  “It was a good opportunity to see the system in action,” explained Close.
