The Bar at Capriccio’s, the swanky Italian restaurant at Resorts casino hotel in Atlantic City, is enticing its customers with a new menu, Spanish, yes E-Man said Spanish tapas, those small plates that originated in Spanish bars for those guests who want small portions while sipping a cocktail or glass of wine. At The Bar, one can also enjoy an Italian beer.
At a press preview of the variety of tapas served at The Bar, E-Man was impressed with the delicious offerings, and the number that one could enjoy while seated at the bar or in a table for two nooks across from the bar, a pristine counter with enlightened bartenders to serve.
Topping the tapas bar menu is Insalata Polpetta, a meatball (that’s Italian) soaked in red gravy, and served with a crisp radicchio and arugula salad drizzled with vinaigrette dressing. This small plate was deliciously enjoyed with a glass of red wine. The price for the meatball tata, only $15. The Banfi Chianti Superiore from Tuscany, just $7 bucks at the bar. Not bad!
Since the event was to enjoy the Spanish tapas, E-Man selected the Arange Di Riso, a ball of rice with Mozzarella cheese encased in that ball, sautéed by a server and served with (so the menu notes) a bite of tomatoes and beef. The rice ball was a delightful tapa for just 12 bucks. Since E-man could choose, he selected Pacific Rim Columbia Riesling, a Washington State white wine. A wonderful choice if E-man says so. The wine was 7 bucks for a glass at the bar.
E-Man decided on a shrimp tapa for the next taste test. Scampi Arrosta, Pesto marinated shrimp dusted in breadcrumbs and oven roasted with lemon and Romano cheese. This most enjoyable tapa was only $15. The E-Man stayed with the Riesling for this delight.
In addition to the new tapas menu, The Bar at Capriccio features red and white wine flights ranging from $16 to $21, new wines by the glass and has added Italian beers Peroni Nastro Azzurro and Birra Moretti Premium Lager that can be paired with the new tapas menu, creating an overall culinary experience.
The Bar at Capriccio’s also featured a menu for creating your own antipasti. Here, E-Man could place Prosciutto, salami, roasted peppers, and artichokes on a plate for just $4.
This menu also offered assorted antipasti, soups, and salads.
A dessert menu offers a variety of delicious tata endings. For example, there is the crème Brulee, Madagascar vanilla cream custard, covered in a brandy icing and served with seasonal berries. The E-man chose the tiramisu, a Mascarpone cream sponge cake with espresso drenched ladyfingers, and dusted with cocoa powder. The seven items on the dessert menu cost $8 each.
The E-Man was sated for the evening, tasting three delightful and filling tapas.and the tiramisu dessert.
Executive chef Steven Klawitter created superb tata and dessert menus with unique tatas and delicious endings for everyone’s taste. He also selected a wine list for every palate to enjoy with the choice tatas. The bar menu also lists a choice of Italian beers., each for $6.
Wikepedia saysTapas (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈtapas]) are a wide variety of appetizers, orsnacks, in Spanish cuisine. They may be cold (such as mixed olives and cheese) or warm (such as chopitos, which are battered, fried baby squid). In select bars in Spain, tapas have evolved into an entire, and sometimes sophisticated, cuisine. In Spain, patrons of tapas can order many different tapas and combine them to make a full meal. In some Central American countries, such snacks are known as bocas.
The serving of tapas is designed to encourage conversation because people are not so focused upon eating an entire meal that is set before them. Also, in some countries it is customary for diners to stand and move about while eating tapas.
The Bar at Capriccio’s is one of the most beautiful bars in Atlantic City. There are tables for two along one side, for an intimate setting. The bar is an attractive one with comfortable seating. The bartenders were an accommodating pair.
Capriccio’s new tapas menu is available at the bar during regular dining hours, current winter hours are Thursday – Saturday from 6 p.m. – 11 p.m. The tapas menu items at The Bar at Capriccio range from $12 - $15.
The Bar at Capriccio also features music by pianist Lisa Tee Friday and Saturday nights.
