Swift Earns Perfect Score as CMS Eighth Graders Place Third in National Contest

CHATHAM, NJ - Eighth Grader John Swift earned a perfect score of "50" this spring, helping Chatham Middle School to a third-place finish in a national Physical Science contest.

According to CMS Science teacher Nancy Hyland, the eighth grade students piled up a cumulative score of 485 out of a possible 500. The last time CMS place this high in the contest was 2009. The contest was based on factual knowledge and the students' understanding of the physical science process.

The students representing CMS included: Catherine Nachtigal, Ryan Chase, Lucas Kianpoor, Tom Barrett, Brendan Gage, Thomas Walsh, Matt Jogodnik, John Swift, Eric Tonno and Robert Novak.

Chatham Middle School will be receiving a certificate of achievement from the National Science League. Students were picked for the team based on their scores.
