Sussex County Freeholder Vohden Appointed to NJTPA Board of Trustees

NEWARK, NJ – Sussex County Freeholder Richard A. Vohden has been appointed to the Board of Trustees of the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA). He joined the Board at its regular meeting on Jan. 14.
 
The NJTPA oversees transportation planning and controls all federal surface transportation investments throughout the 13-county northern and central New Jersey region. The Board is made up of elected officials from each county and the region’s two largest cities, as well as representatives of state transportation agencies and the Governor’s Office.
 
Freeholder Vohden has served as a freeholder since 2011. Freeholder Vohden also was recently appointed as a member of the New Jersey Highlands Council and he is serving his 16th year as Chairman of the Green Township Environmental Commission. He was a member of the Green Township Planning Board for 15 years and a member and past Chairman of the Green Township Open Space Committee. In addition, Freeholder Vohden served for seven years as Chairman of the Sussex County Open Space Committee, seven years as a member and past Chairman of the Sussex County Planning Board, and as a member of the County Strategic Growth Committee.
 
“I’m honored to join the NJTPA Board,” Freeholder Vohden said. “This is a great opportunity to advance much-needed transportation improvements here in Sussex County and across the entire region.”

 

 
Freeholder Vohden has been a full-time farmer in Green Township for 18 years and formerly managed a large commercial subcontracting company.  He is a military veteran who served in Korea and is a member of the VFW, the Sons of the American Revolution, the New Jersey Farm Bureau, and the New Jersey Forestry Association, among other organizations.
