Boys JV Ice Hockey
Summit J.V. Ice Hockey looked to finish the regular season strong with their last three games last week. Unfortunately, they did not achieve their hopes. Summit played well on Monday 2/6/12 vs. St. Peter's Prep. After going down 2-0, Summit battled back to tie it, only to lose the game 4-2. Wednesday 2/08/12 Summit played Randolph and skated to a 3-1 loss against a very strong team. Summit had led for the first half of the game 1-0, but could not sustain Randolph's pressure. Finally on Thursday 2/09/12, the Summit J.V. played their final regular season game against rival Westfield. This is arguably the best Westfield J.V. team Summit has seen in years and unfortunately were beaten soundly 5-0. All focus now shifts to the Union Country J.V. Tournament which will be played on Tuesday 2/21 at the Woodbridge Community Center.
Girls V/JV Ice Hockey
The girls ice hockey team played their final game of the season on Wednesday versus Princeton Day School. Despite losing, the game showed how far Summit has come. All players have become better players throughout the season. In the four years of varsity existence, we have become more competitive each year. The last half of the season, especially, has been rewarding. The team plays hard each and every shift, the players learn and adjust throughout the game, and all players have gained a stronger "hockey sense." The girls ice hockey team is proud of what they have accomplished thus far, and look forward to the progress we will make in the future.
