SUMMIT, NJ - The Summit Lions Club will host its third annual live music event May 3, from 7 – 11 p.m. at the Elks Club Lodge.  The sports-themed event features music and dancing, tailgate food and drinks; and entertainment provided by well-known local band, Alternate Groove.

As the Lions’ primary fundraiser this year, all proceeds will benefit Summit Lions' 2014-15 charitable projects, including programs such as eye exams for Summit children and residents in need, eyeglass recycling, high school scholarships, and many other local welfare projects.

Alternate Groove plays virtually every musical genre -- from Rock to Pop music to Classic Soul tunes – and the tailgate-driven sports theme capitalize on the fact that nearly everyone has a favorite team.   “We wanted to throw a casual and fun event,” says Summit Lion Peter Twill,  “and team sports are something everyone can get behind.  Plus, there’s always great food at a tailgate!"

Dress code for the evening is casual, and anyone who wears his or her favorite jersey or team colors will receive a free 50/50 raffle ticket.  In addition to live music and dancing, the event will include a silent auction, featuring pro sports and live theatre tickets, sports memorabilia, gift certificates, dinners, wine gifts and more.  There will also be a cash bar, and all that great tailgate food will be provided at no additional cost.

Helping to make the event possible are Patron Sponsors including Bassett Associates, Haven Savings Bank and Summit Medical Group, and Team Supporters which include: Ace-Twill Printing & Mailing, Allstate Berkeley Heights, Otterstedt Insurance Agency, Smythe Volvo, and Wealth Financial Partners.  For more information and to purchase tickets, priced at $25, visit  summitlionsclub.org, or contact Peter Twill at 908 / 665-1700, x12, or Terri Lahr at 908 / 516-2629.  Tickets will also be available at the door on the night of the event.
