Summit Lions Host 2nd Annual Summit Swing Dance Party

Summit Lions Club

Wednesday, October 24, 2012 • 12:00am

The Summit Lions Club will host the second annual Summit Swing Dance Party on Saturday, November 3rd from 7:30 – 11:30 p.m. at the Elks Club Lodge, 40 Maple Street, in downtown Summit. Everyone is invited for a great night of music, dancing and fun with entertainment once again provided by local New Jersey blues and swing band, The Gas House Gorillas. All proceeds will benefit Summit Lions' 2013 sight and welfare charitable projects.

Say you can’t dance? No problem – just come out and watch the band. Want to hit the floor and show off your moves? Then head downtown and join the party! Either way, you’re guaranteed to have a good time at this fun, easy-going event. “The band is awesome and last year’s Swing Dance was a blast! Just watching some of the dancers tear up the floor was great entertainment – way better than staying home and watching ‘Dancing with the Stars,’” says Summit Lion Terri Lahr. (You can see photos of last year’s Swing Dance at www.summitlionsclub.org and hear the band at www.gashousegorillas.org.) As  a major fundraiser for the Lions Club, this event will help support important programs such as eyeglass recycling, eye exams for Summit children and residents in need, high school scholarships, and many other local welfare projects.

In addition to live music and dancing, this year’s Swing Dance Party will include a silent auction (featuring pro sports tickets, gift certificates, dinners, wine gifts and more) and a 50/50 raffle. There will also be a cash bar, and light food and snacks will be provided at no additional cost. Tickets are only $25 and may be purchased now on the Lions website or at the door on the night of the event.

The Summit Lions wish to thank their major sponsors: Hilltop Community Bank and Smythe Volvo, as well as their contributing sponsors: AllState/Berkeley Heights, Marco Polo Restaurant, The Richland Knowles Agency and Kevin Child/Insurance Specialist, Summit Medical Group and Twill Printing Services, for helping make this event possible. For more information and to purchase tickets, go to www.summitlionsclub.org or contact Peter Twill at 908-665-1700, ext 12, or Terri Lahr at 908-516-2629.
