Summit High School Presents 'Play On!'

SUMMIT, NJ - Summit High School presented their first play of the year, "Play On!", this Friday and Saturday night. Originally scheduled for Nov. 1-3, the play was moved to this weekend due to the power outages from Hurricane Sandy.
As they say in theater "the show must go on," and went on it did. Now only a two-night performance, the actor and actresses put all the effort they could into this unusual situation.
For those who missed it, "Play On!" is about a struggling theater company putting on a show that is not too great. The cast does the best they can to make the most of the play and exceeds expectations. Though despite their efforts, the production turns into a comical act that the audience of all ages can enjoy.
“The play was super funny, I can’t wait until the musical this spring!” said junior Lexie DeFonzo.
The leads were played by junior Jack LeGoff as Billy; a hot-shot actor with a large ego, senior Lynsey Newsham as Violet; Billy’s airhead love interest, senior Cristina Tsanas and sophomore Keenan Buckley as Polly and Henry; a married couple, Polly being a hard nose while Henry is a pushover; sophomore Keller Gordon as Saul;
a wisecracking man who lives to insult Polly and junior Greg Archer as Gerry; the director who is constantly trying to keep his cast in order.
This cast and many other crews have been preparing for this since the beginning of the school year in September. With rehearsals lasting for hours, on average three and a half hours a day.
Sold out both nights, the show proved to be a major success, and a great way to start of the theater season at Summit High School.
“I think this is one of the most fun plays I’ve done, simply because it’s main intent is nothing other than making people laugh. I really enjoyed 'Play On!'” said LeGoff.
