SUMMIT, NJ - Summit Chorale, one of New Jersey’s oldest continuously running community choirs, will hold auditions for its 2014-15 season September 2 and September 9.

Under the leadership of Artistic Director, Dr. Thomas Juneau, the choir embarks on its 106th season with repertoire ranging from the masterworks of choral literature to exciting new music from contemporary composers.

The chorale’s most recent season included performances of Rutter’s Gloria, Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass, Durufle’s Requiem, and works by Brahms, Britten, Juneau, Patriquin, and Whitacre.  The upcoming season will be highlighted with performances of Schaffe in mir Gott by Johannes Brahms, Herbert Howells' tranquil Requiem, and a celebration of the 330th birthdays of Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frederic Handel featuring Handel's Dixit Dominus with orchestra.

Summit Chorale is a volunteer chorus.  Membership includes recent college graduates, well-qualified amateurs, and active professional soloists, ranging in age from their 20’s to 70’s.  The chorale’s membership extends well beyond the Summit area, with singers coming from many New Jersey communities.  The choir rehearses weekly on Tuesday evenings, and performs at least four concerts each season.

Singers are invited to come and sit in on either of these, or any, rehearsal, to learn more about the Chorale.  Rehearsals begin promptly at 7:30 pm, and are held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, located at 587 Springfield Avenue. Those interested in attending are directed to email membership@summitchorale.org for additional details.
