Summit Boosters Association will put more “Summit” in downtown Summit with the October 5 opening of a retail store in the Mondo venture at 426 Springfield Avenue.  The Hilltop Shop at Mondo will sell Summit spirit attire for children and adults, accessories, gifts and other spirit merchandise.  All proceeds of the not-for-profit shop will support athletics at Summit High School and Lawton C. Johnson Summit Middle School.

The Hilltop Shop will be located on the first floor of Mondo, which positions itself as Summit’s new dining, retail, cultural and social hub.

“We are excited to be part of the new Mondo experience,” said Trish Cassin, co-president of the Summit Boosters.  Co-President Beth Gramigna added, “Having a retail presence in downtown Summit will expand our fundraising efforts, and it will also support Booster’s other major goal:  to increase awareness and spirit for our teams and student athletes.”

Since its inception in the 1950s, Summit Boosters has been a parent-run, non-profit organization whose mission is to support Summit Public Schools’ athletic programs.  Last year, Summit Boosters contributed more than $55,000 towards athletic programs including:  all plaques, letters, pins, certificates and banners for sports teams; new bleachers for the Upper High School field; funding to assist the Men’s Volleyball Team, Wrestling, and Women’s and Men’s Ice Hockey programs; heart rate monitors for the Women’s Soccer Teams; the purchase of a state-of-the-art hydration unit for the athletic trainer; new golf bags for the Golf Team; and championship rings for the Men’s Hockey Team.  The Boosters also award eight $1,000 Howard S. Anderson Scholar Athlete awards to graduating seniors at their Annual Senior Athlete’s Banquet.  Additionally, Summit Boosters organize events including Hilltopper Weekend, Friday Night Lights and SHS Athletic Open House.  For more information about Boosters, visit www.summitboostersnj.org.
