MORRISTOWN, NJ - It’s time to travel and not every trip requires a plane ride. Most times, families find themselves sitting in the car for long periods of time either heading to a vacation or visiting family or friends. The destination has been identified….now the question is, “What can the kids do until we get there?”
Jessica Jackson, an athletic trainer at Villa Walsh, explained how her family has traveling down to a system. She has three kids, ages 3, 7, and 9. Each child packs and brings their own small bag, a pillow, and a blanket.
Jackson explained, “Each child is responsible for bringing their own entertainment. “ Jessica added that all electronics are fully charged and packed the night before.
Kieran, age 7, said, “I love having a bag full of all my favorite things. If I get bored of one thing I just take out something else.”
Brad Dzama, also has three children, ages 5, 7, and 11. Dzama is a teacher from Livingston and spoke about how his family really enjoys playing games while in the car.
“My kids love to play I Spy,” added Dzama. “They pick a color and everyone else has to find the object they were thinking of.”
Dzama did add that if the trip is extra long they include games such as the alphabet and license plate game. The alphabet game is fun for all ages because each person has a letter and they have to think of a word that starts with that letter, such as “a= apple.” The license plate game can be played either by trying to find as many plates from different states or to try and go through the entire alphabet using the letters on the license plate.
Regardless of the activity, the objective is the same…..happy kids = happy trip.
