CHATHAM, NJ - Starting Thursday, Aug. 7, Suburban Disposal of Fairfield will be collecting garbage in Chatham Borough. Suburban takes over the contract Chatham made with B&B Disposal.

The Chatham Borough Council approved the contract transfer requested by B&B at its July 28 meeting.

The green B&B garbage bags will continue to be collected by Suburban through the completion of the contract, which runs through Dec. 31, 2015.

Due to an increase in the hauler tipping fees at the Morris County Waste Facility, the price of the disposable garbage bags will increase: Large bags from from $1.36 to $1.41 per bag. Small bags from .70 centers per bag to .71 cents per bag.

  • Zone pickup days will remain the same. Zone A: Monday and Thursday. Zone B: Tuesday and Friday.
  • Bulk Collection will remain the same as listed on the borough calendar
  • Special Back Door Service pickup will continue. If there is a disruption in your back door pickup, please call Suburban at 973-227-7020
  • The transfer of the garbage collection contract is separate from recycling. Recycling will remain on Fridays for all zones.
  • For any service related problems, please call Suburban Disposal directly at 973-227-7020
  • You may also contact the borough clerk's office at 973-701-6824 with additional questions
