WEST ORANGE, NJ - Liberty Middle School students beat some winter blues in January, thanks to the annual "Brain Challenge" interactive assembly. The students were placed into teams to "compete" in a live academic game show that also incorporated physical and mental challenges.
Since the opening of Liberty Middle School in 2005, "Brain Challenge," run by Hollyrock Entertainment, has visited to present assemblies to seventh and eighth graders that include a tug of war, timed questions ranging from pop to academics, and spatial number challenges.
"Interactive assemblies like this one allows students to showcase their talents mentally and physically," Liberty principal Robert Klemt said. "It's always a great way to help the students work together to achieve a common goal and participate as a class."
The LMS students also enjoyed a "Red Carpet Dance" chaperoned by members of the newly-formed West Orange High School Air Force Jr. ROTC. The cadets kept watch and shared about the high school ROTC program, which is offered as a course for students. This year's first class was full at over 50 cadets and the program is expected to be expanded in the near future.
