MILLBURN, NJ - Student/Partner Alliance, having enjoyed being in Millburn for over 10 years, has recently moved to near-by Summit.  Since 1993, the non-profit organization has been offering youth in the Greater Newark area scholarships and mentoring so that they might successfully attain a quality private school education close to their homes.  Originally housed in Newark, S/PA moved to Millburn, closer to where co-founder Tom Cash and many of the “partners” of Student/’Partner’ Alliance reside.

New Jersey Monthly recently recognized Tom Cash of Short Hills and Emmett Daly of Summit, as Garden State Seeds of Hope Awardees for giving teens an “academic leg up” through the scholarship program.  The schools where S/PA supports students are college-preparatory, nurturing schools, rooted in strong values and community involvement.  In addition to the financial support, each S/PA student is matched with a volunteer ‘mentor’ who has pledged to be that student’s coach or guide throughout high school.

Since its inception, S/PA has awarded over 1650 scholarships to youth who would have not have been able to afford the private education they were hoping for.  This, in combination with the mentoring aspect of the program, makes Student/Partner Alliance a unique and meaningful way for concerned individuals to “give back”.

S/PA continues to recruit new partners, sponsors and mentors in Millburn/Short Hills and other nearby towns, to strengthen the amount of support that can be offered NJ inner-city high school students.
