Striking Performances

Special Olympics athletes from Morris, Sussex and Warren counties gave striking performances at the Area 3 Special Olympics Bowling Competition on Jan. 19 at Hanover Lanes in East Hanover. The event was coordinated by Marisa Del Sordi of Whippany; Betty Lunn of Hopatcong is the Area 3 Committee director. On hand for the Bowling Competition were volunteers from Dover High School, Hackettstown High School Key Club, Parsippany High School and Lenape Valley Regional High School. Volunteers also came from Alcatel-Lucent, Coldwell Banker, Flanders Pediatric Dentistry, Hilton Short Hills, JPMorgan Chase, Marywood University, Sanofi-Aventis and Seton Hall University. The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for all children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.
