WARREN, NJ - A state police trooper whose vehicle overturned on Interstate 78 on July 4 was attempting to avoid another vehicle, according to state police.
State Police Trooper Clarence Turner was driving his police cruiser in the westbound left lane of Route 78 at 8:07 a.m. when a dark-colored sedan pulled in front of his vehicle.
Turner attempted to avoid crashing into the sedan by swerving into the left shoulder of the highway and lost control of his vehicle, which then traveled into the grassy median and overturned.
Turner was transported to Morristown Medical Center as a precautionary measure. No injuries were observed at the scene.
The dark-colored sedan was not at the scene of the crash when additional police arrived.
The crash is currently under investigation.
