Spyro Gyra Comes To The Newton Theatre
Friday, July 13, 2012 • 4:19pm
For the past thirty-eight years, Spyro Gyra has performed over five thousand shows and released twenty-nine albums, their latest being A Foreign Affair. The award winning jazz band is led by saxophonist and founder Jay Beckenstein.
Says Beckenstein, “I’ve always felt that music, and particularly instrumental music, has this non-literal quality that lets people travel to a place where there are no words. Whether it’s touching their emotions or connecting them to something that reminds them of something much bigger than themselves, there’s this beauty in music that’s not connected to sentences.”
Spyro Gyra will be performing at The Newton Theatre on Friday, July 27th at 8 p.m. Tickets are $52 for Premium seats, $47 for Orchestra seats and $39 for Balcony seats. Tickets may be purchased online at www.TheNewtonTheatre.com or by calling the Box Office at 973-383-3700. The Newton Theatre is located at 234 Spring Street Newton, NJ 07860.
