Splurge Bakery (http://www.splurgebakery.com), located at 105 Main Street, Millburn, NJ, will host a fundraiser for St. Stephen's Church on Friday, November 18th from 7pm-9pm.

Tickets to the event, which will include a dessert buffet and wine, are $30 per person, or $50 per couple. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling Splurge Bakery with credit card information or just by visiting the bakery.

St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, located at the corner of Main Street and Church Street in Millburn, NJ, was established in 1851.  The building suffered hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages in the wake of Hurricane Irene in August.

St. Stephen’s non-denominational  Preschool  sustained $250,000 of damage by the floodwaters that streamed down Main Street.  Two classrooms that normally house about 40 two and three year olds were completely destroyed.Everything had to be disposed of; the walls had to be replaced, as did heating, plumbing and electricity, and all the equipment and educational materials.  "The children were accommodated in other spaces and now with many donations of toys and equipment the classrooms are restored.  However, there is a sizeable deductible to find of $45,000.  This may not seem a large sum, but St. Stephen’s Preschool is a not for profit school whose mission has been  to provide very  affordable education and care for the local community. To date, fundraising efforts and donations have raised about half, so we are really grateful to Julie and her husband for suggesting a sweet idea to benefit the restoration of the school in particular," said Rev. Sheelagh of St. Stephen's.

"Partnering with St. Stephen's on this fundraising event is an honor for us," said Julie and Stephen Winer, owners of Splurge. "It is very important for us to give back to our community, and what better way to do then with a sweet night bringing people together in order to help rebuild this Millburn landmark."

This fundraiser is also a great way for people to meet the new Rector of St. Stephen's, who arrived just two days after the hurricane came through.
