Sparta Town Hall Meeting To Address Underage Drinking
Wednesday, March 6, 2013 • 7:55pm
What do red plastic Solo cups and ping pong balls have in common? Former NBA player Chris Herren recently spoke to local parents and students about all he lost due to his drug addiction. He emphasized his journey started with red solo cups, blunts and the attitude that “I’ll never become a drug addict.” Many times parents have the same attitude and perception that “this will never happen to our kids.” Join Becky Carlson from the Center for Prevention and Counseling on March 26th to learn the latest underage drinking trends, issues and prevention strategies for parents, school and all community members to help keep Sparta teenagers healthy and safe. Additional speakers include a local attorney, an insurance professional, Sparta High School’s “Find the Courage” group, local law enforcement and others. Learn how peer pressure influences both teens AND parents and what everyone can do to decrease substance abuse. Parents, bring your teenagers, their friends, your neighbors and grandparents to this resourceful, interactive and informative Town Hall Meeting on Tuesday, March 26 from 7 - 8PM at the Sparta High School Auditorium, 70 West Mountain Road, Sparta, New Jersey. Underage drinking is everyone’s problem and reducing underage drinking is everyone’s responsibility. For more information, contact Ayla at the Center for Prevention and Counseling (973)383-4787
