SPARTA, NJ- Sparta Township Council has begun registering Sparta residents to receive messages from the Honeywell Instant Alert notification system.  The initiative was announced at the last council meeting, following up on a discussion that began months ago.  The council began investigating ways to improve communication with Sparta residents, especially during times of emergency, from experiences related to Hurricane Sandy and other weather related emergencies.

Honeywell Instant Alert is a web-based communication system that allows the user to quickly communicate with a large number of people through many different means; cell phone voice and text messages, land lines and emails.  The message can be sent by delegated township officials remotely, even if they are unable to get to the municipal building.  The messages can be loaded into the Honeywell system via the internet or by speaking the message over the phone.  It is available for use 24 hours a day, seven days a week and 365 days a year, making it a potentially valuable tool in  alerting township  residents to emergency situations and give instruction and information.

When residents sign-up to be able to receive alerts they are asked  to input information based on the menu created by the township. Residents are  able to select the types of messages they would like to receive; text, email, voicemail, or any combination of those options.

Residents can sign up to receive alerts using this link https://iaplus.honeywell.com/SPARTAALERT/

Go to Sign Up  in the upper left corner.  Then simply fill in the information and click on the Register button.   Forms are also available at the municipal building and Parks and Recreation Department.

  • You must be using Internet Explorer to register using the online form.
  • This is completely separate from the Sparta public school Honeywell Instant Alert system.
  • You must register with the township to receive notifications from the township.
