SPARTA, NJ – Local musician Myles Marcus will be traveling west this summer to further hone in on his craft and talents and record five original songs, with known songwriter and producer Tomas Costanza of Killingsworth Studios.

“I’m really focusing on my music, I’m really taking it to the next level,” Marcus said the 19-year-old Sparta artist, in an interview with The Alternative Press.

Marcus, a graduate of Lenape Valley Regional High School in Stanhope, began taking voice lessons at age seven, and, while at Lenape Valley Regional High School, was involved in choir, musicals, Student Council, and the Peer to Peer program.

He has worked with renowned New Jersey vocal coaches Amelia DeMayo, and Sal Dupree, as well as children’s music producer Ed Kessel.

Marcus is also an alumnus of the Long Valley School of Rock, a school catered to the youth, dedicated to developing stage performers.

Marcus recorded his first singles, “JUMP”, “Vixen”, and “EveryTime”, with producer Roy “Royalty” Hamilton, whose accolades include work with Michael Jackson, and ‘N Sync.

Now heading into his second year at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Marcus is stepping it up with his collaboration with Costanza, who he met at school this past year.

“Tomas Costanza came to Berklee, talking about the industry,” Marcus recalled.

Costanza asked Marcus to send him his music, and then invited Marcus to record with him at Killingsworth Studios.

“He said, ‘I really want to work with you,’” said Marcus. “If they [industry professionals] call back, it’s really amazing.”

Costanza has worked with Boys Like Girls, Hilary Duff, Boyz II Men, Stereo Skyline, and Katie Waissel.

Marcus, whose style is often compared to Adam Lambert and Justin Timberlake, blended with retro soul singers and today’s club anthems, will be recording what he describes as “more retrospective”.

He gives hints about the upcoming recordings as “Pop Rock with an electric technovibe”.

Of working with Costanza, Marcus said, “He’s helping me develop as an artist.”

Marcus said he and Costanza are still developing the music and the beats, and then the two will record together in the studio over the summer.

Marcus is additionally releasing a single, “When I’m With You”, with Hamilton, and producer Franck Dona.

Marcus, who has performed at the Blender Theater and Bowery Poetry Club in New York City, Maxwells in Hoboken, NJ, and the Stanhope House in Stanhope, NJ, will be returning to Berklee College of Music to continue his studies.
