SPARTA, NJ - Sparta's 46-14 victory over Ramapo on Saturday was another Faria-dominated game. The North I, Group 3 semifinal game was played at Sparta High School, where a week ago Lucas Faria ran for a record 541 yards in the first round against Englewood--a game that ended with a score identical to the victory over Ramapo.
Faria scored three touchdowns and carried an incredible 59 times for 378 yards against Ramapo. Quarterback Matt Seville completed 11 of 17 passes for 180 yards and three TDs. Skyler Francisco caught four passes for 78 yards and one TD.
Sparta was solid in the first half, putting 26 points on the board holding Ramapo to seven. When Ramapo intercepted in the Sparta end zone on the first drive of the second half and then scored, Sparta fans held their breath, remembering the last time the two teams met and Sparta lost with seconds left on the clock.
It was a momentary lapse, with Sparta ultimately putting up 20 unanswered points.
Sparta, with a record of 10-1, will play the championship game against 8-3 River Dell on Friday night, Dec 6 at MetLife Stadium in the Meadowlands.
