A Hackettstown man was charged today with numerous motor vehicle violations after he abandoned a motor vehicle and then failed to show up at a scheduled appointment at police headquarters to rectify the situation. On March 14th, Officer Jeffrey McCarrick was dispatched to Morning Star Drive to investigate the problem after several residents had reported an abandoned vehicle located on a Sparta Township Access Road.
The vehicle in question was a red Saturn. It was determined that the vehicle had been left there for approximately two weeks. The license plates did not match the vehicle. After checking the vehicle identification number, the owner was found to be; 19-year-old Gaveric A. Bach.
After contacting Bach, he explained that his vehicle became disabled and he had left it there with the intention of removing it. He was scheduled to come to Sparta Police Headquarters with the vehicle’s documents. He failed to appear. Bach has been charged with; Abandonment of a Motor Vehicle, Uninsured Motor Vehicle, Unregistered Vehicle, Fictitious License Plates, Failure to Notify Police of a Disabled Vehicle, Blocking a Driveway and several additional documentation violations. Bach has a First Appearance in Sparta Municipal Court on April 8, 2013 at 6:00 pm. His vehicle has been impounded.
